I don't consider horoscopes to count as divination.
I'm a libra. According to http://www.astrology-online.com/libra.htm, that means I like the finer things in life and sharing; I dislike violence while being a slave to fashion. Looking down at my stained Dar Williams "Cry, Cry, Cry" t-shirt and ill fitting jeans then glancing over at the motorcycle boots that have needed to be polished for about a year, I'm pretty sure nobody would describe me as a fashion slave (although this t-shirt is a 15 year old classic, I won it at the Newport Rhode Island B&J Folk Festival!).
I'm also terrible at sharing. I hate to admit it, but I have to push myself to share. If I am with another person and go to the kitchen to get us a beverage or snack, I have to force myself to give us equal servings. Sometimes I'll even take an extra bite or swallow then refill my glass. Oh yes, I furtively peek around the corner of the doorway to make sure I can't be seen, and then I swallow that last bit of hot cocoa in the cup to make them evenly sized before putting a dollop of whipped cream on both mugs. Then I lick an extra spoonful of whipped cream off the spoon before carrying both mugs to the living room. I want to keep all the yummy goodness to myself.
When I started reading manga, Japanese comic books, I began looking up the authors to find out more about them, and I discovered that the author's blood type was usually lsted (like Nitta Youka's). It turns out that in Japan, blood types are viewed in what appears to be the same way Americans view horoscopes. It doesn't matter if the person is positive or negative, just whether the blood type is A, AB, B, or O. I don't know if there is a daily "blood type horoscope" in the newspaper, but I found various qualities attributed to each blood type, lists of famous people who are each blood type, and folks can be matched based on which blood types are most compatible.
Unfortunately, just like my horoscope doesn't match for me, neither does my blood type. I'm A. Here's a page that lists information about Japanese blood types. It notes that the archetype for "A" is the farmer. That sounds nice. Farmers are stable people. While I am an extremely reliable employee, I'm not good with plants. I have managed to keep one plant alive so far: the cactus on my patio.
As an A blood type, I am supposed to be calm, patient, sensitive, responsible, overcautious, stubborn, and unable to relax. I have very little patience when I am at home (work is a different story!). I have to differentiate between work and home. For some reason, when I'm getting paid, I am can be calm and responsible, etc. When I am at home, I have to work hard to not put the bills on the bookshelf and forget about them. It's not a matter of money; my school work was also well done. It might be a matter of me being so busy completing my work that I don't want to put the dishes away after the dishwasher runs.
At the top of the blood types page I linked above, there is a picture of a condom machine that sells condoms based on an individual's blood type. I would guess that the blood type condom is based on the blood type of the person wearing it and not on the person on the receiving it? Sadly, the picture doesn't seem to say.
Hitler was blood type A. Just like me. Yup. apparently Hitler and I are both calm, patient, sensitive, responsible, overcautious, stubborn, and unable to relax.
