My Mom and Valentine's Day

My entire life my mom gave me a white flower on Valentine's Day. Usually with a card and candy. No matter how bad her finances were, when I lived near her she gave me a live flower. When I moved she still sent me a card and called to tell me how much she loved me.

I have celebrated Valentine's Day romantically once, two weeks before my ex started cheating on me, so I am bitter about Valentine's Day.

Well, that's over. Valentine's Day belongs to my mom. I don't remember ever giving her a valentine, though I probably did when we  exchanged them in grade school. The holiday is about love. I can't send a her card or thank her for all the years where she came to me to make sure I knew she loved me, which I was too stupid to realize the importance of. But I can return the day to my mom and her white roses and carnations and sappy "I love you cards."  I love my mom. She deserves that.
