My own speech, using Trump’s logic from his January 8, 2018 speech.
My fellow Facebook Friends, this morning I’m speaking to you because there is a growing humanitarian and security crisis within the borders of the United States.
Every day, Americans encounter hundreds of people who are experiencing violence in their lives by the hands of their families, partners, and the general public. However, our government holds them hostage by refusing to deal with the basic problems they encounter when attempting to leave these situations. Domestic violence hotlines and shelters, child welfare programs, rental assistance, and SNAP are woefully underfunded, even though they would enrich our society and contribute to our nation.
All Americans are hurt by uncontrolled gun violence, lack of public assistance, low minimum wages, and a lack of belief in the humanity of all people. Over the years, more Americans have been brutally killed by gun violence in the United States than have been killed in total in all American wars since the Revolutionary War.
Among those hardest hit are children. Approximately one in five American children has been exposed to domestic abuse, but our federal spending dollars continue to decrease funds to those in need.
This is a humanitarian crisis. A crisis of the heart, and a crisis of the soul. According to the most recent federal data, there are currently more than 400,000 children in foster care in the United States. LGBTQ youth are more likely to experience homelessness and numerous child welfare placements, yet protections for LGBTQ individuals have been decreased and removed since Trump was put into office. These children are used as human pawns by our government as they are shuffled through an underfunded system that refuses to help the people living within our own borders and instead manufactures fake statistics to increase the coffers of rich Americans.
On average there are 321,500 victims of rape and sexual assault each year, men, women, and children are experiencing sexual assault within the United States, and transgender youth are at higher risk for sexual assault. Sexual violence can have long-term effects on survivors, yet our government refuses to fund necessary services. Our current system is broken.
This is the tragic reality of domestic violence within our borders. This is a cycle of human suffering and survival that the government should be determined to end. The administration should be presenting Congress with a detailed proposal to secure the lives of Americans instead of manufacturing lies to detract from the very real, tremendous problems we face.
NOTE: Yeah, I totally pulled numbers from a variety of places, some were already known to me, some were from news articles, the Annie E Casey Foundation, and other places. Ya know what? I didn’t footnote them. Look up the statistics yourself. If Trump can give a speech on national tv with false and misleading statistics, I can post something on my blog that is read by less than 100 people that includes real statistics that I forgot to site while I wrote it.
