If all the seas were ink...

I still say my favorite nursery rhyme, and sometimes I think about creating a collage to go with it:

If all the world were paper,
and all the seas were ink,
and all the trees were bread and cheese,
what would we have to drink?

It's one of those things I sometimes chant softly to myself in the car. I'm not sure why, but it made me giggle as a child and now it just relaxes me.

I recently realized that the ink color I envision is one that I always have inked. Right now it's in my Lamy Vista. If you haven't seen the Lamy Vista, I highly recommend it. The only sad part is that the converter is far shorter than the ink cartridge, so the color doesn't shine through as clearly as I'd hope. A review of the Lamy Vista can be found on Dat Book Reviews Blog.

The one ink that is always in one of my pens is Waterman's Encre Bleu des Mers Du Sud (not sure that I've capitalized it correctly), South Sea Blue Ink. The color on the bottle label is different, but it's at least in the same family as the actual color:

Some reviews of this ink can be found at the Writing and Scribbling blog.  There is also a page showing how the ink looks on the page. It's delightful. This color used to always bring a smile to my face. It doesn't do that any longer, but it's still satisfying to write with.  I used to always have one pen inked with Waterman's Encre Brun Absolu (Absolute Brown) ink (the Goulet Pen photo does not look at all like the ink color), but two of my pens are currently out of commission, so I had to choose between fun and semi-professional. I choose fun.

I highly recommend Goulet Pens. They are extremely helpful and they respond very quickly to questions. Plus, they've got an amazing color comparison chart if you are purchasing inks.
