No More Whining

Ok. No more whining. I have wonderful friends and a chance to breath while I figure out what to do now.

The friend I am staying with spins yarn, and her work is gorgeous. She asked me to please take some of her handspun yarn from her massive stash, and how could I say no after seeing something this delicious (and so soft... I picked it up and almost cried - it's merino, my favorite!).

B's Handspun Yarn - no idea why the picture is stretched...
that's a round skein.
This yarn is begging to be knit into summertime fingerless mitts (A/C and my hands are not good friends). I grabbed B's size 5 acrylic needles to do a quick, flat, semi-swatch since mitts don't need to be exact. It was fast and easy. Then I picked up her circs and watched several youtube videos on how to knit in the round on circular needles. Um, not so good. I taught myself how to use DPNs, but these circulars are impossible to figure out, and they're terribly uncomfortable! Plus, they're acrylic and don't slide off the needle as smoothly as bamboo or good wood needles.

So I'll wait about six months until I finally have my knitting needles back from Arizona and can use my size 5 bamboo DPNS, but I'm going to beg to keep the yarn even if I can't knit them this year since I have no where to put the boxes my friend is storing out there until I figure out where to have them shipped.

B does have flat bamboo needles so I'll probably grab a different skein and make a scarf. Because, ya know, a girl can never have too many of those come winter! Perhaps I'll do another multi-directional scarf.

My first multi-directional scarf (the link is to the pattern).
